HomeExcavation & ShoringOSU Hatfield Marine Science Pier

OSU Hatfield Marine Science Pier

Serving the Hatfield Science Center, Newport Aquarium and critical aquatic research, the new state of the art pump house structure will support the pumps and utilities to transmit bay water to support all activities and marine life at the respective Newport Bay centers. It replaces an existing wood framed structure. The design includes a pump house enclosure for four new immense pumps, associated precast concrete and steel approach and causeway supported by steel pipe piles. The design was in accordance with federal, state and local requirements for construction over sensitive bay habitat and occurred in a single in-water work window.
